Okay gun enthusiasts, you can keep your handguns. But why do you insist on having your assault rifles? Aren't you aware that the majority of school shootings were done with assault rifles?
Only two are actual military arms. Can you identify them?
If you said the two on the far right, you would be wrong.
The second from the left is actual military surplus, and the third from the right is the same that is used in room clearing by the military. Every other one is built for the civilian market and can only be fired with a single pull of the trigger firing a single bullet.
None of them are assault rifles. In fact, there are no such thing as assault rifles. Assault rifles are like free education or health care. They don’t exist. Education and health care are paid for by someone, whether that someone is you personally, you through an insurance provider, or you (or someone else) who is a taxpayer. It’s not free. Nor are there assault rifles.
Just like the terms “free education” or “free health care,” “assault rifle” is a made-up term used for political reasons.
There has never been a school shooting, or even a “mass slaying", with an assault rifle. Assault rifles are tightly regulated arms, which in comparison to the vast number of firearms in circulation, are in vanishingly short supply. They are also extremely expensive, to the point that only the wealthy or serious collectors possess them.
There have been a number of school shootings committed with modern sporting rifles - which are not automatic weapons, unlike actual assault rifles - but by far the favored arm for such a deed is the handgun. In fact, FBI statistics reveal that less then 4% of all homicides are committed with rifles. Hands and feet account for 8%.
You have been systematically lied to by evil men with a dark agenda. They see your natural born right to keep and bear whatever arms you wish as a direct threat to their power over you. They lie, cheat, and steal to try to remove that right, and make you believe they're doing you a favor in the process. It's a con job, and if you believe the antigun hype, you've fallen for it.
Edit: there have been a few comments of my use of the term Modern Sporting Rifle. The claim is that this is a pro-gun propaganda term. So from here on out I'll use the term Light Rifle for these arms. That's perfectly descriptive of the weapons in question.
