I’ve seen avid gun owners state that if the government ordered for guns to be seized, agents would be shot attempting to do so. What would happen, legally, if someone had done exactly that in this hypothetical seizure?

Recently, the tyrannical governor of New Mexico announced a gun ban in her state.

Right afterwards, the (Democrat) sheriff of the largest county in New Mexico announced that he and his deputies will not enforce the ban, because it was unconstitutional and he did not want to endanger his deputies’ lives. He knew it was a possibility that they would be shot if they tried to take guns from citizens. He also stated that the ban punished only lawful citizens and he refused to go along with it.

Also, immediately, civil rights groups filed a motion for a restraining order against the governor’s attempt to seize guns, which was granted within 24 hours.

So, you see real life events that transpired in a situation similar to what you asked.
