I banned anyone in my neighborhood from buying a gun. How can I enforce the ban?
If you wish to preclude Anyone from, buying, possessing, keeping, transporting, or using a gun (in your neighborhood then you must send a lawyer’s letter to EVERYONE in the neighborhood.
The letter must be sent via certified mail, to Everyone, in order to ensure a record of service is created to Anyone.
The letter must cite the relevant authority, under which Everyone is bound, in order to ensure that Anyone is, specifically barred from performing the proscribed activity. It is important to ensure that No One is excepted from that authority, otherwise, Someone is likely to create a problem for you later.
The letter must articulate the period in which performance, by Anyone, must be remedied so that Everyone is aware of appropriate deadlines. It is important to note, however, that ex-post facto bans are likely to cause a legal kerfluffel. You would be wise, therefore, not retroactively enforce the ban on Anyone as Everyone may have a basis for legal action.
Finally, it is important to ensure that No One has a basis for claiming that banning Anyone, from the proscribed activity, is based in a prohibited factor as that will be bad for Everyone. If that is the case then Everyone will be mad, No One will be able to help you, and whether your ban will succeed is Anyone’s guess.
