Can a police officer take your firearm and unload it if you have a concealed carry license permit?

In MI law requires you to disclose to the LEO if you are armed or not when you are stopped. They can tell from your lic plate if you have a CCW. Once when stopped officer asked where the gun was and said to just leave it there - If I don’t touch mine he won’t touch his. Other time I was stopped I was bringing wife home from ds office when she was being treated for cancer. Coming from hospital/clinic where carry was prohibited was not armed at the time but neglected to tell him that. Officer took my license and registration - went back to his car and about 60 seconds later he was coming out with hand on his weapon and asked if I was armed. I explained situation and with other things on mind forgot to advise him of my status and apologized; he looked across at wife and could tell she was not well, He went back to his car for a few minutes and when he came back he just gave me a verbal warning for the traffic violation and adv’d me to remember to disclsoe status if I’m stopped. From talking to officers it is their discretion if they take the firearm and unload it.
