ATF News: Disaster Prepardness
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) is issuing this notice to confirm that the FFLAlert notification announced on September 8, 2026, is an official and authorized ATF communication.
We understand that the recent announcement regarding the FFLAlert/FELAlert notification system may have been unexpected for some licensees. ATF has upgraded its alert system to the BEACON/Everbridge platform to strengthen and streamline emergency and other critical communications with Federal Firearms and Explosives Licensees. The system will allow ATF to more effectively distribute timely notifications regarding firearms and explosives theft prevention, disaster preparedness, emergency information, and official administrative matters.
FFL/FELs should be aware that legitimate FFLAlert/FELAlert notifications may be delivered through the following channels:
Email: Messages will be sent from noreply@everbridge.net and will begin with “ATF FFLAlert" or ATF FEL Alert".
Text messages: Notifications may be sent from short codes 88911 or 89361, or from 202-648-9999. Text messages may include a link to view the full notification when the message is lengthy.
Automated telephone calls: Calls will begin with the following statement: “This is an official message from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.”
Please ensure that appropriate personnel within your organization are aware of the new FFLAlert/FELAlert system and know how to recognize legitimate ATF notifications. This will help ensure that important communications are received promptly and reduce the likelihood that official alerts are mistaken for unsolicited or fraudulent messages.
